Google Chat is getting artificial intelligence! Here are the innovations
Google Chat takes communication to the next level with AI-powered summarization, task assignment, and more.
Google has added two brand new features to the Google Chat app to make team communication more efficient. Now, Google Chat can be used not only for chatting, but also to summarize messages, determine tasks, and quickly highlight important details in chats with the support of artificial intelligence. Here are the details…
With Gemini AI support coming to Google Chat, chats can be summarized quickly
The most striking of the new features is the Gemini artificial intelligence that Google has successfully integrated into its other applications (Gmail, Drive, Docs). Google Chat users will now be able to summarize long conversations and list assigned tasks by activating Gemini in the chat window.
We can say that the innovations provided by Gemini will make it easier to access information quickly, especially during intense team chats. For example, a user will be able to get support from Gemini by asking questions such as "What are the most important points in this chat?" or "Are there any tasks assigned to me?"
This way, they can see the points that need their attention directly, without having to read messages one by one. Detailed questions like “Who said what?” can also be answered via Gemini. However, Gemini can currently only analyze messages that appear in the chat window. It does not have access to Gmail or Drive content.
In the meantime, Google Workspace users will be able to benefit from the feature. Those with Gemini Business and Enterprise editions have already started to gain access to the new AI features as of November 1. On the visual side, Google Chat offers two new viewing modes that will enrich the user experience: Comfortable and Compact.
Comfort mode, which is used by default, spreads messages out more widely and aligns them on the left and right, making the difference between messages more obvious. Compact mode, on the other hand, aligns all messages on the left and separates them with color, making more content visible.
