Microsoft's Recall feature, which was supposed to make it easier for Windows users to find their activity history, has been postponed until a later date.
The Recall feature, one of the innovations that Microsoft plans to bring to Windows, has been postponed once again, and this time the target is December 2024. We can briefly define the highly anticipated Recall feature as a feature that will create a timeline by regularly taking screenshots to enable users to find their past activities on Windows more easily.
Microsoft Windows Recall feature delayed until December Recall will allow users to quickly see what they’ve done in Windows before and search through their activity history. However, when the feature was first announced, it raised some privacy and security concerns, and Microsoft had to delay the launch several times in response to feedback from users and security experts.
The Recall feature was initially set to be released in June 2024, but was delayed to November due to security concerns. Now, Microsoft has announced that it will wait until December to make the feature more secure. It plans to first release the feature to Windows Insiders, or Windows trial users, to assess feedback.
Microsoft official Brendon LeBlanc stated that this delay was made to provide users with a more secure and reliable experience. This feature will only be available on computers that support Copilot+ . In other words, the computer must have a minimum hardware requirement of 16 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD , as well as an NPU (Neural Processing Unit) capable of at least 40 trillion operations / second.
These requirements have been made mandatory because the features require high processing power. With this hardware support, Recall will analyze users' activity history and provide instant access. We can say that the Recall feature, which is expected to be released in December, will be very useful for users who work with large projects or who frequently refer to their activity history.
However, considering privacy and security concerns, it is of great importance for Microsoft to give users full control over this feature. Let's see how this innovation will be received by Windows users when it goes live in December. What do you think about this?
