Siri's intelligence has been assessed: The situation is not looking good!

With the new iOS 18 update, Apple introduced new visual designs for Siri. However, there were no changes made regarding its intelligence.

With the iOS 18.1 update, Apple has given Siri a completely new look, but there is still a problem that needs to be addressed. The new Siri now appears on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models with a dazzling edge-lighting animation. This effect responds to your voice when Siri provides answers. However, the updates to the appearance have not fully translated into Siri's functionality. Siri still lacks the ability to behave like a smart conversational assistant. Here are the details...

Apple made updates to Siri with the new iOS update: However, there hasn't been much progress in terms of intelligence.

The new update does bring a few additional features. Now, Siri can receive written commands through the "Type to Siri" option. This feature is particularly useful in quiet environments or during moments when speaking to the phone is difficult.
Siri also has access to user guides for Apple's own products. For instance, if you ask, “How do I enable screen recording on this device?” Siri can assist you by providing steps based on Apple’s official documentation.

However, Siri’s general knowledge capacity is still limited; it does not behave like an AI assistant when it comes to answering complex questions and gathering various pieces of information. Meanwhile, Apple has promised to enhance Siri's knowledge level. With the iOS 18.2 update, there are plans for Siri to be integrated with ChatGPT.

With this integration, Siri will be able to provide much more comprehensive information by leveraging support from ChatGPT when it cannot answer certain queries. As a result, we will see a better-equipped Siri with more general knowledge and world information. In the coming months of 2024, Siri is also expected to use personal data, such as messages, calendar events, and emails, to provide natural responses to questions like, “When is my flight?” or “What was the book recommended by Hande?”

For now, Siri is managing with a sleek design, but it still needs more time to develop in-depth knowledge and complex conversation capabilities. According to Apple's plans, Siri will be much smarter and more capable in the future, but users will need to wait a little longer.
